Destination:

Believe it or not, San Francisco used to have a downtown RV park, but alas, that park was leveled and replaced by a large apartment development. The closest parks to San Francisco are in Pacifica (south) and Novato (north). We went south and stayed at the San Francisco RV Resort in Pacifica.

About:

Pacifica is a small beach community just 15 minutes south of San Francisco. The RV park is located off the first Pacifica exit off Highway 1 (Palmetto Avenue) and overlooks the Pacific ocean from high atop a cliff. The ocean front spots have breathtaking views, the park itself is clean, and the laundry facilities are satisfactory. The store has more stuff than most, and lots of tacky San Francisco souvenirs.

Nearby amenities:
A large Safeway supermarket is within walking distance of the park. Also located at this shopping center is an amazing Italian deli – Columbo's, which sells fantastic breads, cheeses and pastas. There’s also a really good butcher (Save More Meat) and a Bank of American terminal. There’s an internet café around the corner, it doesn’t have WIFI, just a public terminal.

Just a few miles north up 280 is the Serramonte Shopping Center that has not one, but two Targets, a Macy’s, Home Depot as well as many other stores that you need and don’t need.

Local haunts:
We had a fabulous meal at Nona’s Kitchen ( 5450 Coast Hwy Pacifica , CA 94044 Phone: (650) 557-1455) located off Highway 1 on the right. The menu was very eclectic and the food was delicious. It’s a small and homey gourmet joint, with a great wine list as well. A good friend of mine who lives in Pacifica, also highly recommends Tama’s Chinese restaurant, which is right next door to Columbo’s Deli.

Where for art thou WIFI?:

There are two Starbuck's in Pacifica with T-Mobile Hot Spots, and there are many, many locations to choose from in San Francisco.

Gyms:
There are tons of gyms in San Francisco including Bally’s, Crunch, 24Hour Fitness, LA Sports Club, etc. so I never made it to a local gym. There are two gyms in Pacifica that I saw, a 24Hour Fitness and a local gym near Nona’s Kitchen.
